You awake from your slumber that took you away from your misery. You’re fresh for a moment until your arms extend and your fingers grace your head. “This is still happening,” you think, but then you have to pee. Forgetting about it for only a moment until your eyes focus onto the reflection in the mirror. Negative thoughts culminate and extend from your brain to your face, a downpour of dread runs down your skin yet again. The medicine didn’t work, there’s no new growth, you’re even more upset than the day before if that’s even possible.
Eventually, you get past the morning tears and move on to put on your wig and step outside to a world where no women that you see or know are bald. You leave your house according to everybody else’s expectations that have become your own.
This cycle continues for days, months, and soon years. The question is, how do you make it stop? How do you manifest genuine happiness once again?
Acceptance.
Quit fighting what is happening to you. Change your perspective of “I’m so unattractive because I have no hair” to “how did I get to be so bald and beautiful?” At this point, you’re not unattractive because of your lack of hair but your attitude towards your unique situation. NEWS FLASH: Insecurities come with or without hair.
If you accept yourself the way you are then you set in motion a ripple effect of acceptance. People have questions, they’re curious, let them be! Don’t be shy. Explaining why you’re bald is a great practice to start accepting yourself.
Becoming bald is a journey that only few of us are fortunate to experience healthfully. We have the ability to shatter the dull normalcy of standard images we see daily. Allow yourself to be a gem of many faces. Let the light that strikes you reflect to others. Changing our mindset is vital to practice a healthy, positive lifestyle. Who doesn’t want that?
Practice some daily mantras that will eventually change your mind about the bald.
Instead of this: Try THIS!
“My head is a weird shape.” “There’s no standard shape for a head, I look great!”
“My head is so cold, I wish I had hair.” “I’m cold! Where’s my favorite winter hat?”
“People are going to stare at me.” “Of course they’ll stare, I’m fabulous. I’ll just make eye contact, SMILE, and move on.”
